This degree is designed for students who would like to undertake a degree in the principal areas of business. It is suitable preparation for students who would like to become professionals in a particular discipline or want to pursue a general career in business. Students will undertake a foundation year that covers all core disciplines of business, providing a solid understanding of issues facing organisations today. Students will select at least one major study and undertake a final-year capstone subject to apply what they have learned in collaboration with students from other disciplines.

Course structure

The Bachelor of Business requires the successful completion of 144 credit points. Students are required to complete the subjects listed below (96 credit points) and upon completion of the TAFE Advanced Diploma of Event Management, students must apply for up to 48 credit points of credit for prior learning towards the Bachelor of Business degree.

In year 1, students in this joint program are concurrently enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Event Management at TAFE NSW Wollongong and Bachelor of Business at UOW. Students are advised to follow the study planner as provided by the Faculty. Upon completion of the Advanced Diploma of Event Management, students are enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Business and must complete subjects that are required for a major in either Human Resources Management; or Management; or Marketing; or Public Relations; or Sports Marketing and Management.

Subjects with substantial WIL

Students will engage in foundational and embedded WIL opportunities (UOW WIL framework). WIL activities within each major are being reviewed as part of our ongoing course development. The capstone subject BUS 331 includes a workplace simulation exercise and Case Study Analysis Report and Presentation (UOW WIL Embedded).
