Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Explain the legal principles that govern formation of contract and the creation of enforceable contractual rights and obligations, and analyse and apply those legal principles to provide a reasoned analysis of real and hypothetical problems;
2.
Analyse the distinctive nature of contractual obligations with other areas of civil obligations such as tort, restitution and equitable estoppel and apply technical legal knowledge to solve complex problems;
3.
Evaluate the operation of the law of contract within its social and economic context;
4.
Apply critical reading and case analysis skills utilising the common law method and the doctrine of precedent; and
5.
Critically analyse the theoretical underpinnings of contract law with reference to their broader context and a range of diverse critical perspectives.
