Handbook

This is a full-time 18 month-long subject during which students begin to learn the foundations of practice as a doctor. Students will be based on one of three campus sites. Students will develop knowledge, skills and professional behaviours around five curriculum themes: Clinical Practice, Health and Society, Professionalism and Leadership, Sciences for Medicine, and Research and Scholarship. The curriculum is structured around body system blocks with an increasing emphasis on more complex healthcare across the subject. A Case-Based Learning pedagogy is used in combination with teaching approaches that include large and small group sessions, clinical symposia, seminars, tutorials, lectures, workshops, yarn sessions, ‘on Country’ days, cadaveric anatomy practical and dissection classes, and Web-based resources for self-directed learning. Students also have early clinical exposure in healthcare settings and develop skills in clinically safe and Culturally Safe care.
