Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Describe the production, storage and use of energy in cells, tissues, and organisms;
2.
Describe the anabolism and catabolism of macromolecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleotides) and their subunits;
3.
Describe the role of enzymes, hormones, and vitamins in metabolic pathways;
4.
Describe how metabolic pathways are regulated and integrated;
5.
Perform laboratory techniques in relation to metabolic molecules and pathways in a safe, organised, and accurate manner;
6.
Analyse, interpret and communicate experimental data in relation to metabolic molecules and pathways;
7.
Demonstrate literature research skills and communicate findings in writing.
