LAW 321 Banking Law is designed to develop in students a sound understanding of the law governing financial institutions in Australia, including the impact of the Global Financial Crisis and other international developments in the manner how these institutions are regulated. The relationship between financial institutions and their customers will be examined, especially in light of the Financial Services Royal Commission findings, along with the impact of recent technological developments on this relationship and on the business of banking. The law dealing with cheques and other negotiable instruments will be discussed.
