Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Explain and apply the current principles of Australian law regulating labour relationships, conditions, agreements, grievances and disputes, under statute and by decisions of courts and tribunals;
2.
Describe and explain the institutions and processes involved in legal regulation of the workplace in Australia;
3.
Analyse and compare the range of methods for legal regulation drawn from historical, comparative and international sources;
4.
Analyse the aims, interests, methods and techniques affecting regulation by the state as applied to work and labour relations, in terms of political and economic factors of labour market regulation;
5.
Evaluate the principles and operation of differing methods of regulation and their effects on work and labour relations; and
6.
Develop legal research and writing skills in order to develop a critical argument about a complex topic using a wide range of source material.
