Handbook

This subject builds on student knowledge of statute law acquired in LLB1100. In particular, it will explore the role of interpretation in law, predominantly through the principles and practice of statutory interpretation and case analysis which are fundamental to the study and practice of law. It begins by exploring the Commonwealth Constitutional and parliamentary framework as well as the legislative process and the structure of statutes and delegated legislation. It then considers the theoretical, contextual and practical approaches to the reading, interpretation and application of statutes to a range of legal problems.
