Handbook

This subject introduces students to the fundamentals of constitutional law, including: an overview of the history and outline of our federal and state constitutional arrangements; identifying approaches to constitutional interpretation and the role of the High Court; outlining the nature of federal legislative power, with a focus on one or more specific heads of power; consideration of the relationship between the Commonwealth and the States; obtaining a basic understanding of federal judicial and executive power; understanding the methods of constitutional change and the place of Indigenous Australians.
