Handbook

This subject introduces time-based screen media arts in relation to the history of avant-garde cinema, experimental film and video, and contemporary screen art. Students develop an understanding of a range of conceptual-materialist practices that expand their repertoire in screen media. The emphasis on experimental practice encourages student to imagine innovative forms of future cinemas. Students develop skills and alternative techniques in image capture, editing, video projection, screen-based installation, and working with a range of media platforms. Project work is developed for mixed screen and installation contexts and informed by the lecture series on history and contemporary practices of alternative cinemas.
