Subject description

The subject examines aspects of the social and behavioural sciences that are relevant to understanding human behaviour in work organisations. The focus of the subject ranges from the behaviour and activities of individuals and groups in organisational settings, to understanding complex organisations as a whole.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Describe and compare a range of major perspectives in organisational behaviour
2.
Explain the relevance of theories about organisation behaviour to the everyday practice of management
3.
Explain the relevance of knowledge about organisational behaviour to the development of more competitive, productive, rewarding and enjoyable organisations
4.
Demonstrate a critical and reflexive approach to the study of organisational behaviour specifically, and management generally
5.
Apply theories of management to the analysis of particular management cases and situations, including some drawn from personal experience
