Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Develop and articulate knowledge about the functions and applications of the arts within inquiry-based projects and emergent, holistic approaches to early childhood curriculum design.
2.
Extend and apply practical and theoretical knowledge and of arts concepts and methods to the design, implementation and evaluation of age and context appropriate holistic, inquiry-based learning experiences and curriculum design.
3.
Extend and consolidate practical knowledge, skills and appreciation of the arts domains of music and movement (including dance), drama and visual arts for personal and pedagogical application.
4.
Demonstrate capacity to articulate and synthesise knowledge about creative arts theories and pedagogical approaches for application in context appropriate arts curriculum design, implementation and evaluation.
5.
Apply a/r/tographic and arts-based-educational research methodologies to articulate critical reflection and pedagogical understandings about the roles of teachers and children as artists, researchers and teachers within democratic early childhood learning environments.
