Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills for self-awareness of and reflection on social work practice in the context of working with individual clients and families.
2.
Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills to establish a safe and welcoming environment; and to build rapport, engagement, and trust with clients.
3.
Demonstrate beginning competence in a range of macro and micro social work skills such as assessment, collaborative goal setting, reflective and active listening, empathy and change interventions.
4.
Demonstrate understandings of social work and other relevant theories in working with individuals and families.
5.
Critically evaluate own social work practice using feedback from peers and tutors.
