On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Understand a range of theories associated with the development of young children
2.
Develop an understanding of appropriate techniques to observe young children
3.
Interpret and communicate observational data to ensure support for the development of young children
4.
Relate child development theory to principles of program planning to plan, present and evaluate quality learning experiences for children birth to five years
5.
Develop an awareness of the EYLF and practical implications, including appropriate planning formats for early childhood education and care centres
6.
Appreciate the importance of a collaborative approach between educators, and building partnerships with parents.
