Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of children’s early numeracy development as well as the theories supporting this development.
2.
Recognise the importance and benefits of providing children in the early years with the opportunity to develop numeracy knowledge and understanding through a variety of naturalistic, spontaneous and planned experiences.
3.
Demonstrate the ability to design, implement and critically evaluate developmentally and culturally appropriate numeracy experiences for children birth to 5 years, and to support transition to school.
4.
Demonstrate an understanding of effective connections with families and support for the home learning numeracy environment.
5.
Demonstrate an understanding of planning and assessment processes informing and supporting children’s numeracy development.
