On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Identify some of the major theorists, activists and philosophers of early childhood education and evaluate their major contribution to the field of early childhood education and care.
2.
Develop an understanding of historical research methodology and use initiative to apply the techniques in planning and undertaking a historical research project
3.
Identify and articulate the main influences of change within various aspects of early years education and services in Australia
4.
Critically assess accounts of the history of early childhood education with respect to curriculum approaches and teaching methods.
5.
Engage with questions of philosophy, ethics and practice from different historical perspectives.
