On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Develop awareness of their own socially constructed beliefs about childhood and about early childhood contexts.
2.
Demonstrate a broad understanding of the specific components of the National Quality Agenda.
3.
Demonstrate an understanding of social, historical, political and legal impacts on early years settings, and the influence of these on policy and practice.
4.
Reflect upon the values, practices and principles of the EYLF to develop an image of the child and a developing identity as an early childhood teacher.
5.
Develop awareness of the roles and expectations of professional early childhood teachers within early childhood settings, including strategies for family, community and interagency engagement in preparation for student enagement with mentor services through the PPP program.
6.
Demonstrate an understanding of the links between theory and practice and connect subject content to personal reflections about practice.
