Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Critically examine widely held understandings about children and adolescents with disabilities and exceptional abilities
2.
Critically evaluate and understand current trends in relation to the policies of inclusion from an educational and social perspective and legal requirements
3.
Understand how different students learn
4.
Develop an understanding of the needs of exceptional learners
5.
Demonstrate basic skills in the differentiation of instruction
6.
Identify appropriate teaching and learning adjustments in order to provide a quality inclusive learning environment for all students, in particular those with exceptional needs and abilities
7.
Understanding of strategies for engaging and collaborating with parents/caregivers, and other professionals in order to better support students with special educational needs
