On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Articulate an understanding of basic theories, models and assumptions about the effects of health communication;
2.
Developing and evaluating public health communications campaigns;
3.
Build the fundamental skills needed to inform and educate people about health issues;
4.
Build the skills necessary to influence people to adopt health behaviours;
5.
Analyse the public health implications of messages conveyed by mass and social media (TV, radio, movies, Facebook, YouTube, etc);
6.
Reflect on three ethical dilemmas inherent in the use of strategic communications designed to persuade people to change their behaviour.
