On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the varied influences of biological, socio-cultural and historical influences upon children birth to 5 years
2.
Demonstrated ability to communicate child development research to parents/caregivers and other professionals to support high quality interactions and practice.
3.
Develop the capacity to reflect upon children’s social, emotional and language development to inform pedagogical curriculum planning, including the capacity to cater for children and families with diverse social cultural and economic needs.
4.
Have a well-developed understanding of the links between the various components of language, social and emotional development, self-regulation, parenting and peer relationships for children from birth to 5 years
5.
Analyse child development research to identify different interpretations of research findings and varied approaches to conducting research in child development.
