On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Recognise infant and toddler cognitive, physical, perceptual, language, social and emotional development and learning from a range of theoretical perspectives
2.
Critically reflect on research into how infants and toddlers learn and develop, and understand the concepts and implications for effective pedagogy, including the creation of responsive learning environments
3.
Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of high quality relationships, continuity across contexts, and relationship-based pedagogy for young children aged birth to three years
4.
Identify issues relating to safe and healthy optimal environments and common conditions that can place infants and toddlers at risk
5.
Define and discuss developmental screening assessment processes for early intervention and the role of the early childhood professional
