Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Competently perform and demonstrate biotechnology techniques, including cloning, PCR, protein gels and their analysis
2.
Analyse and interpret a recent biotechnology-related research publication and develop presentation skills through communicating the research findings as part of a group
3.
Apply the theoretical aspects of biotechnology, including genes and genomes, protein production, recombinant techniques
4.
Evaluate and interpret experimental results and their application to biotechnology, including analysis of PCR and protein gels and comparisons of the data obtained to the published literature
