Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Identify different views on the relation between language, communication and society;
2.
Use technical vocabulary from linguistics and sociolinguistics appropriately in discipline-specific learning (e.g. Mandarin, ELL, media, creative writing, informatics);
3.
Compile and/or interrogate an appropriate set of data and use it to support the discussion of a question about language, communication and society that interests them.
