Ever thought that what you know about language is just the tip of the iceberg? In Languages Around the World we explore a range of languages and language types using examples from some of the world's 6000+ languages, including endangered languages and indigenous Australian languages. Students will learn about differences and similarities between languages and begin to unpack some of the complexity of language. We look at sounds, functions and structures in language, as well as different ways of negotiating meaning. This subject is for anyone interested in language generally or who is doing a major in any language.
