The ability to undertake a comprehensive integrated project design is the capstone of a student's engineering education. This subject will provide students with the opportunity to undertake the design of a major project. Students will be provided with an overall concept plus specific requirements that must be met by the design. All aspects of environmental engineering will be involved, including river basin management, stormwater development, interactions of seawater, surface water and groundwater, separation of clean water from seawater and wastewater and long-term effects of infrastructure on the ecosystem. Impact assessment, legislation, and modelling. Topic areas that have not been presented in previous subjects, but are required for the successful completion of the project, will be covered during the lecture portion of the class. Lecture topics will include environmental impact assessment and legislation, and environmental modelling.
