Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Comprehend and respond to French native speakers in situations of everyday communication;
2.
Read, analyse and respond to a variety of texts and media in brief written and spoken reports;
3.
Reach the upper level B1 threshold of the CEFR, described as follows: ‘can understand the main point of many radio or TV programs on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear’ – can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes’ – ‘can enter unprepared into conversation of topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life’ – ‘can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans
4.
Gain greater awareness of the social, cultural and political context of the contemporary French-speaking world.
