Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
comprehend spoken French in current affairs as presented in contemporary media; at B2 upper level threshold in the CEFR
2.
gather and synthesise information on topics of current interest from authentic French language sources and in different media;
3.
present a personal response (written and spoken) to issues presented in the Francophone media;
4.
demonstrate sustained knowledge of fundamental French grammar and communicate comfortably in French in everyday situations
5.
use effectively the resources of tools such as bilingual dictionaries, the web and descriptive grammars
6.
produce an accurate translation into English and French of non-specialist documents
