Handbook

Making History brings together all History major and International History major students in a final core subject. It is designed to be a celebration of your achievement and to give you the opportunity to draw together all of your learning by devising and completing an individual historical research project. This is not a ‘traditional’ history subject. There are no lectures and only a few set readings. Making History revolves around a research project you will design yourself (with extensive advice and support from teaching staff) on a topic of your own choice (within some set parameters and requirements). This capstone provides an opportunity for you to integrate and apply the knowledge and skills you have gained throughout your major. It is also designed with what you will do next in mind – whether that be further study or professional employment ‐ and to foster a lifelong interest in history. Group activities and discussion, online research, real‐world scenarios, problem‐solving and self‐directed learning are key to how you will experience HIST389
