On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Appraise the discourses of social justice and their development as a framework for social work practice.
2.
Critically review relevant national and international human rights instruments and analyse their application in social work practice situations.
3.
Consolidate and synthesise knowledge of the Australian Legal System within an international context, and legal knowledge important to competent social work practice, including record keeping and report writing.
4.
Identify and critically analyse legislation demonstrating how it informs and impacts social work practice.
5.
Select and exercise critical thinking and judgement about contemporary legal and ethical issues and dilemmas relevant to social work practice.
6.
Apply ethical decision making processes in social work practice.
