Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Understand the consultation process required to gain permission from private, government and indigenous stakeholders to investigate, assess and report on Aboriginal cultural heritage in New South Wales
2.
Use and comply with the requirements set out in the “Code of Practice for Archaeological Investigation of Aboriginal Objects in NSW
3.
Locate, synthesise and evaluate literature pertaining to archaeological investigation of Aboriginal objects in NSW
4.
Apply knowledge and appropriate tools, technologies and techniques in a fieldwork setting, to obtain information about Aboriginal cultural heritage and its context
5.
Critically evaluate information and data obtained in the field to effectively describe and interpret results
6.
Communicate methodologies and results in the form of an Australian Heritage Impact Plan (AHIP)
7.
Demonstrate ethical, professional, public and personal conduct and capacity to reflect on and direct own learning and practice, and participate constructively in decision-making within the context of archaeological investigations of Aboriginal heritage
