The Master of Financial Technology combines both finance and information technology to provide students with a comprehensive blend of theoretical insights and practical skills related to modern technological developments in the financial sector. Students will explore how blockchain technology facilitates more transparent, efficient, and secure transactions, by examining digital currencies, smart contracts, tokenization of assets and decentralized finance. Students will also learn about the critical need for regulatory developments to address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by blockchain and cryptocurrency innovations. The degree covers the impact of technology and its impact on banking and the global payment systems, the insurance industry and trading in financial markets. The technological skills of students will be supported through data programming, information visualization and machine learning subjects. Students will undertake a fintech research project on a topic of their choice that allows them to apply the knowledge gained during the Master of Financial Technology. The degree will utilize case studies and industry speakers to ensure that content is reflective of current trends and developments in the fintech industry.
