The Bachelor of Nursing prepares students for professional practice as registered nurses, by providing knowledge and skills to think critically and reflect across all aspects of nursing practice. The course incorporates a range of nursing subjects, basic sciences, research, ethics and professional subjects relevant to contemporary nursing practice.
At the completion of the course, graduates will be able to deliver confident, safe and person centered care in a variety of health care settings. Throughout the 3 year course, students will attend 840 hours of off-campus workplace experience in a variety of settings and different local health districts. Students can expect to travel up to 2 hours to attend their workplace experience.

Course structure
The Bachelor of Nursing requires the successful completion of 144 credit points of subjects as specified below.
Your study program requires you to attend workplace experience or clinical placements within a range of health-related settings. Before you can commence a placement within a NSW Health facility, you must meet NSW Health’s mandatory requirements for police check, code of conduct and immunisation / vaccination.

NOTE: That the Bachelor of Nursing, Year 2 and Year 3, work on an extended Academic year, generally commencing in late January, and concluding early/mid December.
Candidates should note that pre- and co-requisites apply to many subjects in the course. Satisfactory completion of all Year 2 nursing theory and practice subjects is a pre-requisite to enrolment in Year 3 nursing theory and practice subjects. The reason for these prescriptions is that the School of Nursing has a legal responsibility to ensure that candidates meet nursing theory and practice requirements at each level of the course.
